Ostend at Anchor postponed to 2022

As a result of the ongoing corona situation, the Tourist service of Ostend has decided that Ostend at Anchor will not take place this year. For the second time in a row, the festival will be postponed for a year. In 2022 we promise a top edition’, according to curator Hubert Rubbens and the Lord Mayor Bart Tommelein.

The 21st edition of the maritime festival will be postponed for the second time in a row. The new date will be 19 to 22 May 2022. Thousands of families traditionally come to the Ostend city centre, docks and ships for a mix of gastronomy, music and entertainment. Every year, Ostend at Anchor welcomes more than 200,000 visitors, spread over four days.

Mayor Bart Tommelein: “Ostend at Anchor is traditionally a four-day party with a mix of all kinds of nationalities among boatowners, visitors, exhibitors and musicians. Due to the current circumstances, it is still very uncertain how international travel and the quarantine measures will evolve. Therefore, we have had to make a decision. We are very sorry to leave our Ostend at  Anchor fans hungry for two years. However, we promise a top edition for 2022.”

Curator Hubert Rubbens: “It hurts to have to cancel this maritime festival for a second time now”. The registrations again showed a lot of interest, but with the current restrictions we are not able to guarantee a hundred percent organisation. We therefore consciously choose not to do a half-hearted job and continue to work on an unforgettable edition in 2022. So put 19 to 22 May 2022 already in your diaries and maybe there will be an extra surprise!
