The IRIS is coming to Ostend at Anchor 2018
1916 Built in Vlaardingen in the Netherlands. IRIS is a fine example of the last generation of
sailing luggers. She fished for herring in The North Sea up as far as the Shetlands Isles.
1929 The first engine and was installed. The ship sailed from Denmark for 40 years as a
commercial trading vessel on the Baltic Sea.
1981 Restored as a traditional sailing passenger vessel. She sailed from Rotterdam and for the
second time in her life under a Dutch flag.
2016 IRIS Centennial
The ship will moored and de visserskaai and used for day trips at sea
