Diving tank

During Oostende voor Anker, you’ll find a real diving tank on the Sint-Petrus- en -Paulusplein. The local diving club Duikpunt gives impressive demonstrations and introduces you to the fascinating world beneath the surface.

One of the highlights is the helmet diving demonstration – a unique and historic diving method where divers can breathe and communicate underwater using a heavy helmet. Air supply, power, and communication cables are bundled together and connect the diver to the team on the surface.

Feeling brave? Children (8+) and adults are welcome to try it themselves! Can you build a structure underwater or untangle a ship's propeller that's full of rope?

And who knows… you might even catch a glimpse of a real mermaid in the diving tank this weekend!
