ILVO

Who is ILVO?

The Institute for Agricultural, Fisheries and Food Research (ILVO) is an independent scientific research center of the Flemish government that contributes to the sustainability of agriculture, fisheries, and the agro-food sector, based on 10 themes. ILVO's mission is to build scientific knowledge to produce sufficient, healthy, and varied food in a socially responsible manner. ILVO operates across East and West Flanders. Within the ILVO-Marine department in Oostende, we specifically focus on everything the sea has to offer, from sustainable exploitation to innovative monitoring, coupled with marine spatial planning and the impact of various human activities on the marine ecosystem.
