Illex

The 'Illex' has a steel S-frame designed by Robert Clark (UK), a successful designer of racing yachts in the 1960s. The ship was built in 1963 at the shipyard Theo Kok in Vinkeveen (NL) on behalf of an English sailing club.

The sailing yacht was initially called the 'Ilex II' and sailed in Great Britain until 1979. The ship then ended up in the Netherlands and was baptized the 'Illex'. The new Dutch owner G. Rietman did some adjustments. The engine was replaced in 1985. The aluminum mast was shortened and in 1992 the deck was replaced. The ship was sold to L. Hammers in 1996. In 2005 the yacht was purchased by the current owner. After a few years of sailing, the interior was thoroughly restored in 2008 and the hull completely repainted.
