'Alida' was built in 1963 by Gibbs & Sons on the River Thames in England, based on a design dating back to the 1930s. The vessel is entirely made of wood. The hull consists of teak/iroko on oak, the decks are teak, and the cabins are crafted from mahogany/meranti. 'Alida' is powered by two Ford four-cylinder engines with 56 hp.
'Alida' has a rich history in England, where she had several owners before being purchased by her current crew in 2002. After the purchase, she was taken to Inverness, Scotland, where an extensive refit was carried out.
In 2008, 'Alida' embarked on a journey through Europe. She travelled via Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Republic of Ireland, Wales, and the Channel Islands, reaching France in 2009. She then cruised through France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark, arriving in Sweden in 2016. There, she spent two summers before heading south again via Denmark, Germany, Poland, and once more through Germany.
Today, 'Alida' is based in Hasselt, Overijssel.
