'Blutske' is a seaworthy Norwegian fjord boat with character, history, and a generous dose of charm. In the 2000s, she was a regular winner at the Ghent Classics, and even today - nearly 50 years after her construction - she still looks stunning. The recently overhauled Perkins engine and a new canopy on the aft deck are the only modern additions; everything else has been lovingly preserved in its original state.
Today, 'Blutske' is sailed by the third generation of Belgian skippers, who explore the Low Countries each boating season. Recognition is guaranteed: “Has Blutske been sold?” is a common question when docking. The current skipper, son of the previous crew, proudly replies, “No, I’m the son!”
The name 'Blutske' carries a special story. In 1975, long before the boat existed, the skipper’s parents used it as a secret code word for their unborn child - a tender symbol during a time of military service and handwritten letters. Today, they are still the owners of the boat and celebrate a series of milestones together with their son and 'Blutske': 50 years of marriage, 50 years of life, and soon… 50 years of Blutske.
A boat with a soul, a name with a story, and a family keeping tradition alive. Welcome aboard Blutske!
