The ship was purchased in 1921 by Bjense Kobes for his three sons Jacob, Jan, and Oenes. He named it 'De Drie Gebroeders' (The Three Brothers).
In 1950 it came into the hands of Dutch skipper Jan Scholten, who once again used it on the peat routes between Zwartsluis and Hoogeveen. Scholten changed the name from 'Drie Gebroeders' to 'Linquenda'. Until 1976 the ship remained active as a working tjalk, still in its original format as a commercial tjalk, equipped with a small 40 hp engine.
The current owners have spent the past ten years thoroughly restoring the ship. With 'La Tulipe' they undertook an impressive journey: from the south of France back to Paris via Strasbourg, and then further around Belgium and the Netherlands.
