The 'Zoetelief' is a Puffin 42, a remarkable type of vessel with a rich history. Its design comes from the same hand as the naval ship Urania, a regular guest at Oostende voor Anker. Like the traditional flat-bottomed boats, the Puffin can run aground safely, but instead of leeboards it is equipped with a retractable centerboard beneath the hull.
Construction began in 1998, and in July 2000 the Puffin was launched. The first owner sailed her for nearly twenty years, reaching destinations as far as the Mediterranean, England, and Scotland. Later, a Swiss sailor took the helm and expanded the sailing area to Denmark and Sweden.
Since the end of 2025, the 'Zoetelief' has been in Belgian hands. After a thorough refit, she has been restored to top condition, ready to continue her story and embark on new adventures.
