The SUSANA project is carried out by the University of Antwerp, Ghent University, the Institute for Agricultural, Fisheries and Food Research (ILVO), KU Leuven, and the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (KBIN), and is financially supported by VLAIO and the Blue Cluster.
Learn more about the project Sustainable Use of Sand in Nature-Based Solutions (SUSANA) and help decide what the dunes of the Belgian coast will look like in the future! At this booth, you can discover the dune-for-dike concept. Everything involved in creating a dune is covered, from extracting sand from the sea to constructing a dune along the coast. Special attention is given to the types of sand that can be used for this purpose and how it relates to ecosystem services (coastal protection, recreation, etc.).
Additionally, at this booth, you can share your opinion on which type of sand you prefer for dune construction along the Belgian coast through a short questionnaire and a choice experiment!
