Hoop op zegen

The "Hoop op zegen" was built in 1912 as a 'roef ship' on the shipyard of the Barkmeijer brothers in Briltil (Groningen - NL). Afterwards she was baptized "Cornelia".

It was originally built for the transport of soil, earth, manure, etc., but also general cargo in the northern Dutch waters, Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe. First under sail or hunted with manpower or horses. Later also pushed by a so-called pusher.

After World War II until the 1960s, she was used as a storage ship for a fuel trade in Leeuwarden. In 1975 she was converted into a yacht and an engine was installed for the first time, a used DAF 575 from a truck. Due to the small cavity of the ship, the old cargo hold has been raised to a comfortable deckhouse with headroom. The small deckhouse of the past is now the seat.

She has been in the possession of the current owners since 1983, first as a houseboat and later as a yacht again. From 1987 the "Hope of Blessing" sails again, as far as possible in original version. In recent years, trips have been made through the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Denmark. In 2009 a new engine was installed, a 4 cyl. Deutz from 100hp. And the old cotton mainsail was replaced by a used Dacron sail.
