In 1977, after successfully managing to tame a bagpipe, Anthony Stolarek joined with some members of the Flemish Caledonian Society (VCS) to become the first post-war piper in Ghent! Three years later, a young Werner Middelaer, eager to learn to play the pipes became Anthony’s first student and together they created what was to become the “Ghent District Highlanders Pipes and Drums”. Today, the group consists of no less than 20 playing members.
