Registration

Please request permission to enter via Port Control Oostende on VHF channel 9 upon arrival at the Binnenstroombank buoy. You must register as a participant of Oostende voor Anker. A quay crew is provided for the larger ships on arrival.

Every owner of a pleasure boat from a non-shengen zone is requested to use the link of the maritime police to declare the crew and fill in the data of the sailing or motor boat.

Professional tugboat

Assistance from a professional tug from Multraship is possible but at the expense of the ship owner. This person must request a notice via Port Control at least 3 hours in advance, preferably the day before via the shipping agent. The tug can provide assistance in the forward and aft harbour, but not in the Montgomery dock with LW.

All ships give way according to instructions. Ships must clear the fairway and approach channel immediately and by the shortest route.

At the entrance of the Montgomery Dock, there is a sign with 3 arrows that can be either green or red. The following instructions for exiting will be displayed.

Port regulations

  • The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, the Police and Navigation Regulations for the Belgian territorial sea, coastal ports, and beaches, as well as the Port of Ostend Police Regulations, apply at all times to ALL vessels.
  • Each skipper must sign the attached registration form for approval before entering Ostend. This form must be submitted to the organization before May 4.
  • The organization, the City of Ostend, and other competent authorities cannot be held liable for any damage to vessels or damage caused by third parties. Any damage incurred due to drying out in Montgomery Dock is entirely at the vessel’s own risk.
  • The organization, the City of Ostend, or other competent authorities are not responsible for any accidents occurring on the various pontoons where vessels are moored.
  • Every participating vessel must have liability insurance, as well as theft and fire insurance. Additionally, the vessel must be fully insured (full casco) for its own value and for its crew.
  • There must always be sufficient crew on board to ensure the safety of the vessel.
  • It is forbidden to operate auxiliary boats without permission from Ostend Traffic Control.
